Best TV Series Ever, Worst Sound Track
Um, this is pretty much noise. The season one soundtrack has several good tracks that I could add to playlists and listen to often. This one, not so much.

Really only for diehard BSG music fans
The incredible music of Battlestar Galactica all starts here, but it's a slow build up through four seasons and 6 soundtrack releases. Though the miniseries introduced many of the driving ideas behind the music of BSG, it is also the weakest of the soundtracks. It isn't until the end of the first season that the music starts to stand out and it isn't until the fourth season that the music basically becomes a main character in the show. If you are interested in the music of BSG I strongly suggest you start with the soundtracks to Seasons 2, 3, and 4 first.

Nonetheless, there are several standout tracks here worthy of adding to your BSG music collection. The opening track, "Are You Alive?" does a great job of carrying you through the halls of Galactica as you follow Commander Adama during the initial reveal of the ship. "Starbuck, buck, buck" is a brief but catchy trip-hop tune with Indian influences. "To Kiss or Not to Kiss" is a touching song with beautiful vocals that becomes a romantic theme for much of the first season. Finally, "The Storm and the Dead" is a nice blend of several of the miniseries' main themes and brings back memories of the Galactica traveling through stormy seas to reach the Ragnar Anchorage.

I think the best way to get this soundtrack is to find a site selling individual MP3's because many of the tracks are rather sparse and incidental. Not something I would listen to in really any situation other than with the show. However, if you are a diehard BSG music fan then this is probably worth your money just for the tracks I mentioned above.

Fracking awesome!
If you're a fan of Battlestar Galactica or if you're at all into instrumental soundtracks this one is a must-have! I often hear people say that Richard Gibbs' work for the Miniseries can't quite hold up to what Bear McGreary did for Season 1 through 4. I disagree ... there are some songs that may appear like they couldn't stand on their own (they work perfectly in the movie, though!), but there are also many that work just fine even without the film. It is true that compared to Season 1 - 4, the Miniseries soundtrack takes a more minimalistic approach but that doesn't diminish in any way the fantastic job Gibbs has done.

Some of my favorites are:

01 - Are You Alive? / Battlestar Galactica Main Title
04 - To Kiss Or Not To Kiss
13 - Seal The Bulkheads
14 - The Lottery Ticket
15 - Eighty-Five Dead
18 - The Storm And The Dead

Track 19 "Thousands Left Behind" is also very memorable, especially in conjunction with the scene in which it's used in the film.

BSG Reimagined Audio CD
This audio CD is fantastic like all those emerging from the television show, Battlestar Galactica. There is a rich mixture of styles and sounds that contributed greatly to the mood of various scenes on the reimagined series.

Spot-on music for the show.
This sound track was nigh-on-perfect for the show. It set the mood for the military/sci-fi drama and the human tragedy.
